Practical AI

Operating and equity partnerships

You know your business. Let’s explore what’s possible together.

For established owners who can see real opportunities in their business but haven’t had the capacity to pursue them. We work alongside you to turn those opportunities into results, as a longer-term partner with a stake in the outcome.

The gap

Seeing the opportunity is rarely the hard part.

Most owners we talk to already know where their business could improve or grow. The harder part is finding the time, the people and the headspace to act on it while running everything else.

So worthwhile opportunities wait. Not because they’re wrong, but because another project is one more thing competing for the owner’s attention. We’re interested in closing that gap: not just advising on what could be done, but sharing the work and the outcome of getting it done.

What each side brings

Your business and know-how. Our time and operating experience.

You bring

  • An established business, with customers, a team and a track record
  • Deep knowledge of your industry and customers
  • The final say on your business, your people and your values
  • A clear opportunity you haven’t had capacity for

We bring

  • Owner-operator judgement, from running a multi-site business
  • Systems and process design, so improvements stick
  • Practical AI, used where it genuinely helps
  • Hands-on time to lead agreed work, and accountability for it

Who it’s likely to suit

Established businesses with an opportunity waiting.

  • An owner-led business, typically 10 to 80 staff.
  • Trading for several years, with steady customers.
  • Trades, manufacturing or practical services, though we’ll talk to others.
  • An owner who wants to stay involved and is open to changing how things are done.
  • A specific opportunity worth pursuing, but no capacity to do it.

It’s probably not the right fit if you’re looking for start-up funding, need rescue capital, or want an investor who stays hands-off.

How it starts

Four steps, and no commitment until the last one.

Step 1

Send a short enquiry

A few details about your business and the opportunity you can see.

Step 2

Have a conversation

About an hour, with no cost and no obligation, to see whether there’s a fit.

Step 3

Get to know the business

Usually through a short, fee-based diagnostic, so both sides make decisions on facts.

Step 4

Then discuss an arrangement

If it makes sense for both of us, we work out what a partnership could look like, with independent advice on each side.

Being clear upfront. This is an invitation to explore, not an offer of investment. Every arrangement is different, and nothing is agreed until both sides have taken independent legal, tax and financial advice. If a partnership isn’t the right fit, our standard services may be, and we’ll tell you honestly either way.

A few details help AJ prepare. Please don’t include financial information here. If it makes sense to go further, we’ll cover that privately.

  1. 1AJ reads every enquiry personally. You’ll hear back within two business days.
  2. 2We arrange a conversation. About an hour, at no cost, to see whether there’s a fit.
  3. 3No pressure either way. If a partnership isn’t right, we’ll say so, and suggest what might be.
